 7th grade

Quality Growth Statement

This year as a seventh grader at the Dayton Regional STEM School I have grown and become better at communication. Communication is a skill I not only use at school, but in real life as well. One thing I have done in school that has really pushed me to be better was the phone call I had to make in the storybook project for STEM Foundations, I had to make a professional phone call to see if an organization (the Beavercreek Police Department) would accept the donation of our book. I was really nervous that I would mess up. At some point though, I realized that I was talking to a human and humans sometimes make mistakes. I knew it would be okay even if I slipped up. So I just did it and I felt really good because

they accepted it. This helped my communication skills a lot because from then on I just thought of that moment and that’s what got me through it. Like in my dance class, I have a solo and I’ve been working on it for a while. When I finally showed my class I was really nervous. But I thought of the phone call and even though I didn’t use words I think I really used communication to show them how hard I had worked. I didn’t think they would like it at first but they did. Communication is a great skill to have in and out of the classroom and this year at DRSS I’ve gotten much better at knowing I’m a good communicator which allows me to actually be a good communicator.
