How I Grew
In this project, we began by learning a lot about the history of women in America. After we completed our learning, we each conducted an interview on a woman being elected as the Democratic presidential candidate for the first time and basic views on that. I interviewed my mom and recorded it. Later on I put that audio file into a video game level that I designed for the project. This level basically consists of a virtual "museum" exhibiting the history of women (that we learned about). In one area of the room, if you walk close to the wall, my interview starts playing. There is also posters on the wall of screen captures of an essay I wrote on the same topic of women's history. This essay was another part of the project, it was a written response to our learning. It addressed how things for women over time have changed, how they still need to change and how they've stayed the same. The purpose of this project was to engage others in women's history.

The concept of creating a video game overwhelmed me because I knew nothing about it. I found myself frequently panicking and asking a lot of questions. Things finally started to make sense when I started reading through the tutorials multiple times and making sure I knew exactly what to do for every single step. As I went through the project, smaller problems became easier for me to solve on my own and I became less dependent and more confident in my own work. I struggled a lot getting my audio to play in my level, but I never gave up and I kept trying new things throughout. At the beginning of the project I would have just given up right away. To me this is evidence that I struggled, and I grew as a result of this project.

Evidence of my growth can be seen in part I of the questions and screenshots document. This document shows the start of my growth because you can see I have very short and vague answers. I made many mistakes. The next artifact that I think shows my growth is part III of the questions and screenshots document. In this artifact, you can see all the walls and everything really flows together and works well. You can see how this demonstrates growth because I get pretty good at using UnReal and I was really bad at it in the beginning, which you can see by all the answers I got wrong. This growths indicates that my skill on UnReal is improving a lot. I think the DRSS quality I used the most during this project definitely had to be persistence. Especially at the end of the project when I was struggling with adding audio. I had to use a lot of persistence to keep going, to not give up.
